Slackers Animations - *UPDATED AUG 28th 2016*

Postby Slacker » Sun Aug 21, 2016 9:58 pm

Hey all, I've been gone for a while. I'm probably not going to be remembered but I've been a member on the past 2 DD forums (Darkdemon and Animator.net) but have been away and not animating for a while. Just recently found out about this forum and joined it. Getting back to it. Updates to come soon.. Feedback is welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

Heh. You may not know me but I used to watch a lot of your anims when I first started haha.

As for CC, you still have some beginner blunders here and there such as choppiness and such, which will be fixed by constant practice aha. Keep up the good work.

lots of gravity problems but im sure youll fix them due to realization, anyways i think your punches have no power and easing is a bit off but great start!

In your newest combo test animation, the poses for the attacks are quite good. However, the spacing (movement from one frame to the next) could use improvement. Right now it feels shaky which is holding it back. If you space consistently then it will look smoother and more believable. It's easier to do this if you check through the frames that the spacing doesn't change erratically, either by clicking through the frames on the timeline or scrolling through with the "<" and ">" keys.

Shaky spacing:
|-|------|--|--------|-|------|---|-----|-----|-|--|

Smooth spacing:
|-|--|----|---------|-------------|-------|----|--|-|

In the examples above, the "|" is the frame and the "-" is the amount of spacing.

You want to aim for something that doesn't change erratically. When you space smoothly and consistently your animations will start to look better.

Thank you for the comment and the tips, I took that into consideration and made a test. Turned out to be sort of a loop, unintentionally. Posting now. Anymore tips is appreciated, always looking to improve.

It seems kind of lazy that you only animated one arm and one leg in the easing jump. I know what you were going for, but I don't really think it works. I think the gravity is a bit unnatural as well . As for the combo, I think the spacing is inconsistent which really ruins the flow of the animation
