Good god this site was such a big part of my life. I'll try not to get too sentimental about stick figure animations here, but the time I spent here, for better or worse, really did influence how I am.
I joined this site in 2007. That's 7 years ago; I was a 14 year old boy when I first registered on this site, and now I'm a 21 year old adult (not that I necessarily feel like one.) I was very active on this site (11,000 posts, wtf?) during what I'm sure are some of the most influential years of my life.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is, regardless of how silly it sounds, this website really does mean a lot to me. Before this site, when people asked me if I had any hobbies, I would have to throw out the generic "Video games, TV, hanging out with friends". Years later, when people ask me if I have any hobbies, I get to tell them that I sometimes animate for fun.
And guess what? I used to hide that I did animation all the time because I thought it was nerdy, but as I've grown up I've realized something awesome:
Animating is fucking cool.
I have never once gotten a negative response from telling people I animate for fun. No matter who I'm talking to about it, they always respond with genuine interest and curiosity. It's not nerdy, it's creative, and creativity is in. I wish I could have been mature enough to realize that years ago and actually embrace animation as a true hobby instead of having this huge rift between my "Real life" and my "Internet life".
Maybe I'm being a naive asshole with my secret hope that some young kid on this site will read these "words of wisdom" (citation needed) and become more open about his love for animation, but if there isn't any Disney moment like that, at least I can say I tried.

Anyway now that that's out of the way, what's up guys? Does anyone even remember me? I'm a little ashamed to admit I don't even know half of the current staff, but hopefully that's just due to name changes over the years. Special thanks to Shad for giving me the heads up that this site actually exists. (Me and about 5 others from this site still keep in active contact even after all these years, crazy right?)
