one thing you have to understand is that improvement does not come instantly, not in a day, not in a week, not in a month...You can only improve by continuous animating. By next year, you will have improved. Maybe not dratiscally, but you will notiçe it.
For tutorials, it depends on the sort of tutorial and how you deal with it. If you were following youtube tutorials like "frame 1=pose a. frame 2=pose b etc" then you won't be going anywhere since chances has it the one who made that video does not know what is he talking about and you, in return, would not know what you're doing. Instead, look up tutorials that are made by people who know their stuff such as Mitch or Jojishi. And make sure you read them more than five times during different periods of time to fully grasp the infos you'd be receiving.
And most importantly, have fun since you can't do well in things you do not enjoy-even if the anim's quality is not up to your expectations.
