Some Important Weapon Facts for Beginners (Under Const.)

Postby Fear » Tue May 06, 2014 12:48 pm

Well I have seen a lot of animations in which the weapons are used totally wrong. For Example, I have seen anims where a Uzi shots with such a great power that it can probably put the best shotguns to shame. I have also seen shotguns that fire 4 bullets/second. No Joke. <---- This guy even put Machine gun Effects in the BG. Well here a thread that explains the basic characteristics of different types of weapons.

Quick Test
Here is a quick test to check your knowledge (and common sense) about Guns.
Find the Major Error:-
Image
You will notice that the handle is in front of the lower receiver, making the thing totally useless.

Lets Start.
Weapons can be Divided into 3 basic categories. :
1. Melee
2. Ranged
3. Melee Cum Ranged (Forgot what this is called)

Melee
Melee: Any weapon which can only used in close combat is known as a Melee Weapon.

Sword
The ultimate Melee weapon of all time. Sword consists of a blade, a hilt, and a handle.
The primary effect linked with the sword is the sword trail. A lot of animators you their own specially made swords.

A sword (not the one's with crazy power ups) can only attack targets close to it. The strength of the blow depends on the strength of the user.

Pros
[*]A sword is great for attacking a targets with thick hides or skin.
[*]I doesn't have a reload time.(duh)

Cons
[*]Melee weapons in general suck when dealing with fast targets or targets in vehicles.
[*]A sword is quite heavy and is also big, making it useless for an infiltration device.
[*]Even little damage to the fingers of the dominant hand can leave the wielder very vulnerable.

That's a pretty bad gun example. By your logic guns like this

Image

are unusable because they have no downwards-facing grip. You gotta remember that some of the oldest guns were literally sticks.

phpBB [video]

That's a fucking 15-th century gun.

And also, swords AREN'T the ultimate melee weapon of all time. Spears take that medal.

Omg if anyone's gonna make a weapon post it'll be me.

I have more to say about melee weapons.
-Separate the 1 handed and 2 handed class.
-Curved/Symmetrical weapons
-Durability
-etc...

Here's my example of pros/cons :

***The pogo stick with a pointy end***

-Symmetrical
-Made of plastic & steel

Pros :
-No ammo, works on springs
-Attack with all your weight in one point --> thrust power depends on weight.
-Makes a creepy sucking noise when using it
-Can make the user jump higher than usual

Cons :
-Uses the whole body
-Super hard to handle
-The springs can rust
-Not suitable on soft grounds (mud, sand, ...)

Conclusion : 3/10 would not use
