I don't usually watch new movies since I have to go to the theater and I have 0 friends and I don't want to go alone. But I just watched Sharknado the other day with my family. Literally all I did was point out all the horrible mistakes and how they must have actually PAID someone to make this movie. 10/10.

Damn it I miss horror movies! Have there been any good ones lately? These days it just seems like every horror movie is about a young girl possessed by the devil or some shit. It's probably about 90% of the horror movies that come out these days.

yeah, done.

some movies i liked:

Cold in July - awesome tone, acting and twists
The Homesman - easily my favorite recent western
Under the Skin - superbly simple and artsy
Frank - pretty self-aware to it's own advantage/detriment
Coherence - great thinking-indie-scifi
Melancholia - interpretive analysis on life, death and marriage
Clerks - good angsty post-teen dram-com
Willow Creek - intriguing sasquatch mythology
The Signal - formulaic but effective scifi

Pain and Gain is actually a pretty good Michael Bay film. It has a few drawbacks, but overall I found it quite fun and unique. It seems like a right step in the direction for him as a director and the film certainly has an interesting premise. Take what I say with a grain of salt, it's not for everyone.

Been rating every movie I watched on IMDb recently, not really because I feel like rating, but it's a great way to keep track on all the movies you've watched. According to the site I've watched 32 movies ever since (with maybe some TV-movies on top of that, but not chances are that's honestly not that much, as i barely watch TV anymore). Anyway, some I really liked:
-Pant's Labyrinth
-Begin Again
-A Beautiful Mind (Recommended)
-Silver Linings Playbook
-The Last King of Scotland (Recommended)
-Dallas Buyers Club
-Her (Recommended)
-Life of Pi

Not to say there weren't more that I enjoyed, these just stood out for one reason or another.

Also, Stickid, I watched The Signal, but can you explain your appeal on that movie to me? To me it looked like a really badly constructed and the plot was just really bad in and of itself.

I've recently seen The Wolf of Wall Street, it was pretty fun, people normally complain about its length but I enjoyed every single hour of it.

^Wolf of Wall Street is easily the best movie that's come out since 2009, in my opinion. I think it does get a little long but overall it's excellent.

Watched Trainspotting a couple weeks ago. It was good, but I feel like there's more to it than I picked up on so I'm gonna rewatch it. I also watched Psycho, which was good for the time period. It was quite the film at the time and I respect that, even if it isn't anything special for today (mostly because things start copying it etc)

Watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes last night with my father. Have to say, I wasn't disappointed. Only problem with it is...
Spoiler:
Koba is god during the initial assault on the human colony. He should be dead like 3 times over.

Edit: Thank you mod gods for the spoiler.

the plot is really simple and i don't see what's bad about it, i thought it was a perfectly decent slow-burner with a good twist ending.
sure it's not very satisfying, but i had no big problems with it

TMNT, pretty decent enough. I was expecting less, you know the way ol' Bay is.
