I guess by definition, that was music. I wasn't enthralled either. It was like spoken word (I guess), but I couldn't take it seriously nor could I tell if I was supposed to. It seemed to be trying too hard to be unique.

Woah woah woah! American version or Korean version? Because I dig the hell outta the Korean version. The American version blows so hard though, fucking Spike Lee, I hate that guy.

Oh yeah, I haven't seen the Korean version, maybe that's where I went wrong. I'll watch that one next.

Also, decided to boot up another movie before going to sleep. So I watched Gamer, a movie that I've wanted to see for quite a while. I don't think a movie of 1½ hours has ever seemed so long. Jesus Christ, that movie was terrible. The only redeeming quality it had was the great cast, but besides that, nope. Wouldn't recommend.

Gamer has some interesting ideas but yeah it's a pretty awful movie

watched a few films recently:
Murder Party - wonderful halloween movie, tons of fun. strongly recommend
Four Lions - hilarious and brave black comedy, i laughed my ass off. strongly recommend
Proxy - tremendously interesting. it gets dumb towards the end but captures you most of the time
Barton Fink - any expectations you have throughout the film are shattered in each scene, really great
Halloween - fantastic, it was cool to see an iconic film that influenced the horror genre
Saw - finally got around to watching this. while it's not well-executed it's got some great ideas and twists
The Battery - great character development and concluding scenes but starts off really slow
Ghostbusters - pretty fun movie, characters are great and it feels pretty timeless
A Most Wanted Man - somehow manages to have a detailed plot without leaving you confused, very well made

Battle Royale is probably my favorite foreign film. One would think with a language barrier it would be difficult to convey emotion and character depth, but they did an excellent job. Even if it is just a blood-bath. For anyone who doesn't know, it's pretty much the original Hunger Games. Great movie if you like 14 year-olds killing each other. Although, they take way too many bullets at times. Highly recommend.
Spoiler:
But what in the fuck was the deal with the ending? I know it's a Japanese film, so it may have the tendency to be strange. But, what? The teacher creates a painting of Noriko surviving? Did they have some kind of prior history? Is he a pedophile? And when he brought her the umbrella when it was raining, was that real? Also, after Nanahara blasts about a dozen rounds into him, he gets up and answers the phone. Then dies. Am I missing something?

I downloaded the better version of Oldboy, I'll watch it sometime soon. Hopefully it's better.

Also, what movies are you guys anticipating? I'm looking forward to Big Hero 6, The Interview, The Imitation Game, but most of all The Theory of Everything, as I reckon it'd be something like A Beautiful Mind, which I really liked.

Edit: Tried watching Oldeuboi, only to find out I downloaded the English dub. Downloading it again, this time in Korean, only there's 0 seeders, I'm surprised my download speed even surpassed the 2MB/s.

Holy fuck, 2 MB/s is low for you? Shit son I'm pretty damn satisfied with 300 kb/s.

Nah, 2MB/s is decent. My internet kind of fluctuates though, sometime I can download at 5MB/s, other times it caps at 1.5MB/s. And since the signal is absolute shit (and the first floor is relatively big) I'll have around 300KB/s at most when I'm in my room and I can barely watch porn.

Anyway, watched Memento today. T'was alright.

Also, this movie looks like a true piece of art:

Yeah, honestly I thought it was really bad, save for a couple of scenes. As soon as he leaves his room and starts to search for the guy who put him there it starts to go downhill. Also, that ending and that twist reveal was so fucking bad I just couldn't bear to watch anymore.

yeah i think i remember being sort of letdown at first, but i chalked it up to my own confusion of the plot. it was only when i did some research that i really appreciated the film

i guess you could say that means the movie missed it's mark, but it helped me out alot

I just watched the Korean Oldboy and I gotta say it's heaps better than the western version. Heaps and heaps.

I thought it was a decent movie all together, kind of sucks that I kind of already knew how it was going to end, even though it did seem a lot more predictable in this version anyway. I'm glad this version didn't take the bad-ass action approach as much as its modern remake. Also, the lack of Apple product placement was quite nice.

I gave it a 7 on IMDb, which is pretty good.

Misery - decent thriller, good concept and performances
Boyhood - pretty stale and disappointing, it's ambitious from a production aspect but completely average otherwise
Hercules (2014) - surprisingly entertaining, lots of fun
The Blair Witch Project - really good, i loved the focus on the characters rather than the monster

also I've seen X-Men: Days of Future Past a few times now, its really decent. i'd say the setup feels better than the payoff, it definitely gets muddled from middle to end but it's the most solid of the franchise since X2

Too bad you didn't like Boyhood, that a movie I really want to see still. Also got reservations for Interstellar yesterday, it's out the night of November 5th and I'll be there.
Went to the movies yesterday, saw Under the Skin and The Judge.

Under the Skin: Pretentious movie without a plot or really anything going on, wouldn't recommend.
The Judge: Was pretty good, turned to drama a lot more quickly than I expected. I anticipated more of a comedy.
Ferris Bueler's Day Off: I can see why it's a popular movie and its cheesiness has some sort of charm. Pretty good if you don't feel like worrying for about 100 minutes.
Bad Neighbors: Make you like Zac Efron a bit more, but still not a really stellar or funny movie. A decent flick.
Stuck in Love: Really fun family movie, has pretty good character development and gives you a good feeling after watching it.
The Mist: I'm sure it was a lot better in the book, but it seemed like a very cheesy, outdated action/horror movie to me.
Closer: Alright movie, not as good as I hoped, but it isn't bad either.
The First Time: As far as teenage romantic comedies go, this one was rather decent.
Fury: Really good war-movie, but if you're gonna see it, keep in mind that this warmovie has a lot of war going on. Not all that much beyond that. Also, probably setting a record for the shortest romance in a movie ever.
Memento: Very original movie, that's for sure. Gotta say the plot in the end seemed kinda bad, but it did lead to a pretty decent movie, so that was nice.
Blue Jasmine: If you're going to see a Woody Allen movie, go watch Midnight in Paris.

I fucking loved that about blairwitch as well man, A lot of the horror was conveyed through observing the characters rather than just being shown a fucking demon or some shit. Really love that movie.
