That's a pretty good description of it actually. However, I for one like to think that redundancy and the celebration of irony is fascinating on its own. I can definitely see what might be annoying about the meme-loving irony-faggots out there, but the idea behind it is deeply fascinating to me. The whole deconstruction of internet culture by the internet culture itself - I believe self-irony to be an important virtue in life. It's not quite post modernism, it's more like neo-post modernism. Post modernism as a societal and artistic movement was more like an anti-movement: the death of ideologies and specific mindsets and about the concept of mixing everything together with no regard for rules or any previous ways of thinking. The post-ironic trend of internet culture goes beyond that I think, as it doesn't just mix all kinds of media and parts of internet culture, but deliberately does so in an often shitty way to parody itself. Oooh, that makes me think of something else that I'll have to make a debate thread about I reckon - I believe in this trend of internet culture that nothing is sacred and everything is allowed to be used in parody and jokes, no matter how taboo or grim the subject is. But that's a somewhat other topic, so I'll make a separate thread.
