I kinda like Joey's album so far. This track stands out to me:

CJ Fly from PE is a fun artist too.

Anyone for jazz-rap making a comeback? Madlib, Flylo, and now BBNG + Ghostface seem to be leaning in this direction.

I'm not sure how long it'll stay for, but I feel that we need more rap albums that have production equivalent to Low End Theory.

I'm glad it is personally, despite the products not being incredibly solid as of late. but the new BBNG/Ghostface sounds great so far.

Anyone got any feelings about Lupe's new album, Tetsuo & Youth? I've just started my first listen and I'm already enjoying it a lot. A LOT different from his old stuff but in a good way (ie: not fucking lasers). Even with the direction away from 'standard' hiphop beats and him using more piano and different shit, it's still got lupe's great flow and classic wordplay.

I'm REALLY LIKING Prisoner 1&2 right now.

If you wanna check it out too, Here you go!

Bumping this because Kendrick!!! You hear it yet? It's amazing. The story is much richer, and political than GKMC. Beats are pretty much always solid, fitting the theme. A lot of jazz influence on this whole thing. Kendrick's flow is immaculate, as well as his voice changes. The entire album feels like a play.

Every song flows so well into the next. I love the story he's portraying. I am a bit disappointed about the fact that the album has no bangers, because Kendrick is great on them, but I understand why he chose to go for a more jazzy feel with this subject.

p.s. still hoping that Pyrex song with Dre is real. :(

I'd be willing to argue that Hood Politics, and Alright are banger material. Wesley's Theory too maybe? In a funkier type of way.

Alright is a fucking banger, Blacker the Berry is a fucking banger, Hood Politics is a banger because of that Killer Mike shoutout. For Free is one of the best fucking interludes I've ever heard in my life, HE'S FUCKING SPITTING FIRE ON A FUCKING COMPLETE JAZZ TRACK WHAT THE FUCK

Wesley's Theory is an amazing intro but not banger material imo.

Can we get more Jazz Rap please? Like exactly like what Kendrick was doing on TPAB. It's just so nice when executed well.
Definitly one of my top 5 of 2015 as of right now, if not top 3.

When I use the word banger I think of a song with a hard-hitting beat and catchy lyrics overall. Kind of like "m.A.A.d. city" and "Backseat Freestyle". On this album, I guess you're right about "Alright" being close to a banger by my weird ass standards lole.

Laughed so hard at Big Quint's response, dude is awesome.
