To Pimp a Butterfly is beautiful, in a word. Mortal Man is definitely one of the high points on the album for me, followed by U, These Walls, King Kunta,Alright,How Much A Dollar Cost (just because it really reminds me of the roots for some reason I think) and The Blacker The Berry in no real order. That's not to say the other songs are lack luster or bad; in fact they're just as well made. I feel like this album will be one of those where my 'fave songs in the album' constantly switch, a lot like it was with Oxymoron, Good Kid MAAD City and Undun.
I don't think mr. Needledrap Fantano's final score is correct personally, but I would definitely give it a high 8-solid 9, and definitely call it the best album kendrick has dropped thus far.
Best Albums of 2015 so far:
1.To Pimp a Butterfly
2.Tetsuo and Youth
3.???
We'll see what happens this year, but I have this strange feeling that my top 3 is gonna have both To Pimp a Butterfly and Tetsuo and Youth on it. Mural ALONE probably makes this album worth a spot in my top 5-10 this year I think (it's easily probably gonna top my best single of the year unless a miracle happens, because imo NOTHING in TPAB even touches Mural, albeit the album on a whole is just better overall.)
I was really hoping 700 fill would be worth a spot on my list, but it's just an out an out disappointment from a group who dropped such a stellar album not 6 months ago.
