Ghost in the Shell, Mushishi, Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei, Cowboy Bebop, Akira (overpowered yes but watch it anyway), Colorful, Paprika, Memories, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Spaceship Yamato (recommending the remake here), Paranoia Agent, anything by Satoshi Kon even if he just farted over the script, Kara No Kyoukai, Perfect Blue, I'll stop here

Anyone watch Hajime no ippo? I've been addicted to this show for years. The fight scenes are literally some of the best I've ever scene. Takamura vs Brian Hawk, holy crap man.

Pretty much everything tenks said. I'd add Kino's Journey, Monster, any Ghibli film, Psycho-pass, Vision of Escaflowne. There's plenty out there if you look.
