I've gotten that before from Americans I've spoken to on Xbox. There's not just one Irish accent you know, there's a different Irish accent for different parts of the country. If you've ever heard of the actress Saoirse Ronan (fantastic actress), she has a more of a country accent. You also have Dublin, Cork, Donegal and the Northern Ireland accent.

That's usually the case with accents lol. There's still something all the irish tongues have in common that make them sound irish though.
