Holiday Traditions?

Postby Llama » Thu Nov 27, 2014 3:26 pm

With today being Thanksgiving (at least in America), I got curious as to what people do on holidays like this. What're some traditions/stuff you do on holidays or even just family gatherings in general?

For me on Thanksgiving, my family just gathers around for a gigantic feast where the leftovers are able to keep us going for the next month up until Christmas. Any family members out of state just call up on Skype and we chat and stuff. Pretty fun and filling stomach-wise.

I'm not American so I don't know much about Thanksgiving, but I've always found it ironic that Black Friday is straight after though. When everyone's done being thankful they start rioting over sales.

Also wasn't the first Thanksgiving in America where they ate with a bunch of Indians and brutally killed them for their land shortly after?

Thanksgiving
"On this day, I am thankful for having food, shelter and a loving family. I love you guys."

Black Friday
"Give back that PS4 or I'll beat the shit out of you you little brat!"

I just mainly celebrate Easter, Halloween and Christmas. We also have Australia Day, but I don't get into it that much. I'm not a fan of BBQ but going for a swim's nice, if I can be bothered. I never really liked Australia Day when I was a kid because it meant I had to go to school in the next day or two. I could never really enjoy it knowing that.

had some actual fun with family today. all super genuine people despite being a bit rude (but hey thats family). I only wish I realized this earlier.

thanksgiving, it was. truth be told I can't say i'm a fan of any holiday, but I appreciate the good moods people are in during them. I celebrate christmas too, but the experiences are hit or miss.
