General Resources and references

Postby Waters » Tue Jan 20, 2015 12:51 am

I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread like this.

Post some good resources, references, stores, videos, tips for general use.

A giant, huge pack of Art related books. A good 17 gigs worth of books, references, brushes, screentones and more. A really nice find and extremely helpful. This also contains some NSFW material, mostly artistic and mundane but hey, DL at your own risk. Also some books may be in japanese/moonspeak, good luck with that.

Helpful reference site of movable 3d models, helpful for anatomy reference and general use.

For me this is a great source of inspiration.

Oh wow, these are really helpful! Thanks for sharing man.

As for me, I get a load of inspiration from this dude right here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Palivizumab

The rest of my inspiration and what I learn comes from books, so I can't really share it. An english book I have is Drawing Projects by Mick Maslen and Jack Southern. Haven't bothered seeing if MEGA has it, but if it does I can recommend it to anyone who wants to learn draw with a pencil, it has some pretty great challenges and inspirational examples and texts. I got it at Tate in London, but seeing the quality of this thing I can imagine it shouldn't be too hard to find in local art shops either. The rest of my books are in dutch, so I'm not gonna bother putting them here.

This one is a great book that covers everything about head and hands anatomy and teaches you every step to achieve real proportions. It has tons of illustrations. The writer was an american and art instructor. Every book of this man is worth checking, though.
