It looks fine to me, it only looks bigger because of the shading. And given the colour of your skin it seems spot on.

Really nice piece of art, keep it up.

I've never posted any drawing in here, and I haven't posted much drawing in A.net as well, so people probably don't know how do my drawings look like. Well, here's a sample:

It's a shame that I just can't get propotions right and all. I may never manage to reach the big names' level :(.

^ the neck only looks thick because the head is pretty squashed height-wise

are you using guidelines? because i have a feeling you aren't
guidelines and skeletons are HUGELY helpful when it comes to nailing proportions
another tip for proportions is to brush up on and get comfortable with realistic proportions before you try to introduce your own style into it. that way you understand how everything works, and you'll have a better idea of what will work stylistically and what will just look plain weird

came up with a thing for my writing class and liked it so i'm drawing things for it

I'm assuming that copying pictures of people might teach something? By pictures I mean pictures of people in real life, not drawings.

sorta
only if you're actively taking in information such as body ratios and shit like that and almost committing things to memory
otherwise you're just tracing
