Poem - The Raven

Postby Alca » Thu Oct 02, 2014 4:04 pm

Decided to write some more poetry. I realise the second half doesn't rhyme, so I guess you could consider it partly free-verse. I don't write poetry much but I need the practice.

A lone tombstone hides within the graveyard
Its inscriptions worn, no longer to be read,
While the solitary raven sits and keeps guard
A vigil watchman over the dead.

An entire life's history erased
Devoured by the ground and left to rot,
The raven takes flight-
Leaving the grave alone once more.

"Whenever people see birds flying through the sky, it's said that they get the urge to go on a journey.".
