Was my joke not funny?

Don't want to be sarcastic by saying "ah ha ha so funny".
That joke was basic, but it's well done to have put this in the second post in a thread where there will be dozens of pages.

Am I the only one that finds the chicken crossing the road joke funny? I used to think it was dumb when I was a kid, but then I looked into it deeper and over the course of my life I've read many different meanings from it. When you look at the meanings in the joke it can be quite funny. I went into a raging fit of laughter one day when I finally realised (when I was... maybe 11) that it's funny because it isn't funny. It's a classic example of bait and switch because you expect there to be a punch line, but there just isn't. The punch line is that there isn't one. At least that's my interpretation of the chicken joke.

But I acknowledge that going on about the chicken joke has probably annoyed a few people so I'll try to say something funny... I guess. Um...
