I actually think the ranking system is quite fair because it takes into account jumps, streams, etc. Though I know for a fact Hidden is really, really underrated. Minifrij, you actually probably got rank for that Hidden play but you rank decayed and your play just compensated for it by you only losing 1 rank. You should never lose pp for a SS play.
