Gaming Genres and your favorites from said Genres.

Postby ZeroZephyrum » Thu Jul 03, 2014 2:41 pm

So I thought I'd post this as something to talk about, post what game genres you play and your favorite games from said genre.

For example, I play a few shooters and my favorite out of them is the Halo series. I'll list a few others

Hack 'n' Slash: I'm always confused as to whether this refers to Ninja Gaiden type hack 'n' slash or Dynasty Warriors hack 'n' slash but.. Yeah, to cover both types, those are my two favorite games/series from that Genre.

RPG: Either Skyrim or Dark Souls

Free Roam/Open World: Assassin's Creed, I love the combat systems in the games, both from before 3 and after it.

"Anime" games (Either based on an anime, or has an anime-ish art and graphic style: Elsword and/or Grand Chase.

Horror: Left 4 Dead.

Co-op Focused: Left 4 Dead again.

"Childish" games (such as lego games): Lego Star Wars TCS.

So go ahead guys, feel free to reply with your own favorites :)
Begone.. With the Thunderclap!

Hack'n'slash: metal gear rising. I have just bought this game for the Xbox360, and for someone who really hasn't seen much of it from gameplays, I must say that is looks visually amazing, graphical-wise and fps-wise. The gameplay is great, and robots have never been more badass and cooler. Not to mention the badass music that kicks in at boss fights. You're fighting, then when the second verse comes in, lyrics of the song kicks in and it just pumps you up for god's sake. MECHS FTW HIOHIOHIOHIO!!!

Anime: Uhm, I'm not really a fan of anime games, though there is this ONE franchise that I like since my childhood which is Naruto. I've seen a trailer of Naruto ultimate ninja storm 3 full burst and I frankly liked it. Don't know much of it, yet? But I'm confident I won't regret buying it.

Horror+shooter: I suppose my votes go for resident evil 4. Not 5, not 6, but the 4th one. It's not visually better than the others, but I'm so found of the gameplay style. I have literally beat the game 7 times in the PS2 version.

Platformer: Sonic. Always has been my favourite franchise of all, and will always be. So fast paced and just so full of action. I just love it. Seriously. I'm found of every game the franchise has.

Racing: NFS Carbon for the most part. Then Grand turismo comes afterwards.

WRPG: Fallout3 and maybe DS, I don't this either o them qualify as WRPG but I haven't played Transistor or anything else that I can think of yet.

JRPG: Summon Night: Swordcraft story 1/2/3, seriously play this game, it' really fucking good it makes you fall in love with the characters, it's a ride. Persona 3 too.

FPS: Eeeeeeeh I don't play alot, I guess soldier front 2 or something idk.

Third person shooter: WARFRAME JESUS FUCK YES WARFRAME

Fighting Games: TEKKEN TEKKEN TEKKEN TEKKEN streefighter touhou hisoutensoku TEKKEN

MMORPG: Elsword mmmm.

Hack'n'Slash: Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae

BULLET HELL: Touhou

Platformer: Kurovadis, ok, this is game is the shit. Play it. NSFW.

Rhythm Game: Vocoloid Weap game PSP version

Action: Toribash and I guess Kingdom hearts can fall into this category, It's not like it's an RPG so yeah

Kingdom Hearts: Kingdom Hearts.

yeah that's pretty my my favorites, a few more I couldn't remember though.

Also Anime Category doesn't really make sense, just having anime style graphics should make it so that all Eastern games get grouped into the same category, HyperDimension Neptunia and Naruto bullshitgame are 2 different genres.

I commonly just play two genres being fighting games, RPGs and adventure/open world or whatever they're called
For Fighting games I commonly play BlazBlue, Tekken, Any DIMPS DBZ Game, and Smash Bros Melee/Project M is the one I play the most.
For Adventure Games I tend to play TloZ, I commonly play Majora's Mask or Ocarina since they're the ones I have most fond memories of. But I still play Wind Waker and Twilight princess again from time to time. Kingdom Hearts 1, BBS and 2 as well.
I also play a lot of Pokemon and some final fantasies from time to time which I suppose are RPGs, although I just play pokemon battles more than the whole adventure thing.
