Re: Souls Thread
Hopefully the netcode is good too.
Also, the story line of dark souls 3 is about the resurrecting lords of cinder and a dark hero trying to kill them. Don’t really know much more than that. Oh and Miyazaki said “For instance, we adopted the concept of rapid fire for the short bow, and the animation between rolling and walking has been smoothed out. I don’t think we’re going to employ the idea of agility, otherwise the action would be stressful until you raise your stats.”

Holy shit. I wonder if this means if we'll get to visit both Drangliec and Lordran.Article wrote:As far as lore goes, Miyazaki was silent. When I asked whether the game was set in Lordran, Drangleic, or another kingdom altogether, Miyazaki simply said, “Dark Souls 3 shares the same world with Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2.”

Re: Souls Thread
I think what he means is that the area, like some speculated, are one in the same. Like, Lordran, and Drangleic are the same location over a different period of time. And that the new one follows suit. I honestly want a new and more impressive area to play in the game.Gary wrote:http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/16/ ... uls-sequel

Re: Souls Thread
Yeah being able to visit both areas would imply time travel which is gimmicky but would be pretty fucking neat as well. Maybe they will just add a bunch of references to the old games using the ashen mist heart.

Last paragraph:
"Miyazaki indicated that ash will be a new element type in Dark Souls 3. He didn't come right out and say it, but ash appears to be a frequently used theme in the game world."

Re: Souls Thread
Soul level based matchmaking baby.
I feel like Souls 3 pvp is gonna thrive no matter what the balance/meta context is simply because it seems like its gonna be an actual COMPLETE experience from the shit we're hearing. I feel like PVP is getting the treatment that a real branch in gameplay should as opposed to just being an atmospheric feature that people built a community around.Tom wrote:Not sure how I feel about this. Seems like they are going back to DS1 and BB roots for PVE which is great. As for PVP not so much. It's too early for me to formulate an opinion, but I really hope the PVP is as fleshed out as it was in DS2. I will wait for gameplay as always though. And woo soul level match making!

Re: Souls Thread
The Soulbrandt guys released a video about their closed doors E3 demo of DK3.
http://www.twitch.tv/brandon505/v/6305155
This is all that's said basically (copied from a reddit post):
-Estus animation is "frame by frame" identical to DS1, but since there's no HUD, we don't know how the actual healing works.
-4-directional rolling when locked on, omni-directional when not locked.
-Graphical fidelity is around the same level as Bloodborne.
-Backstabs look just like in DS1, but are "slightly delayed".
-Pretty much every gameplay mechanic feels like DS1.
-Confirmed 30 fps.
-Miyazaki is 5'10".
-Fully interconnected world (like DS1).
-They speculate the world hub is more like the Hunter's Dream, than Firelink Shrine (although just speculation).
-DS3 confirmed by Miyazaki to not be the last game in the series.
-Throw mechanics work like DS1, not DS2.
-All the standard gestures are back (mixed from both DS1 and DS2).
-Sword Arts: Enables special attacks for different weapons (there's much more elaborate info on this available than I cba to write).
-Bows fire immediately, but have a longer recovery time.
-The shortbow has a rolling attack that's really, really fast.
-Legion Scimitars came as 2 weapons in a single drop (the second one is drawn upon 2-handing or Arts Stance).
-They mention the boss, which is easiest described as being this.
-Equipped weapons (not drawn) are now shown on the characters back.
-Kick is back, and same as DS1.
-Miyazaki laughed at Soul Memory. SL confirmed.
-Signs confirmed.
-They're "evolving" the hollowing system.
-According to the controller layout, charge attacks are a thing.
-Charge attacks can be canceled.
-Charge attacks break guards.
-Ragdolls are in the game.
-Huge, aggressive, 5-hit combo knights. (described as "fair drake keeper knights").
-Enemies chug estus like there's no tomorrow.
-Lords of Cinder are those who previously linked the flame.
-Miyazaki confirmed "no direct references" (so like every other game).
-"If you see something, you can go to it, and you can go in it".
-Something about sacrificing corpses to co-op (I really couldn't hear wtf they were saying...).
-Aesthetically, it looks like "Bloodborne with dragons and magic".
-"Dedicated servers" will most likely work like in DS2 (servers for matchmaking, P2P for the connection).
-Parrying is also the same as DS1.
-Sword Art stance "flows" into the rest of the combat (no need to stop and wait to activate it).
-Confirmed people who think it's only A-team and B-team don't know what they're talking about (unsurprisingly).
-Bosses have different phases with varying elements.
-The boss had environmental changes to the arena (lighting it on fire with her attacks).
-They talk about the "dark-consumed" mini-boss, but no concrete info, really.
-Color palette felt very "same-y" and "washed out".
