Guild Wars 2 is now free-to-play

I've been following the Guild Wars franchise for ~7 years now, and am pretty hyped about the new Guild Wars 2 expansion Heart of Thorns.
So yeah, discuss builds, pvp, wvw, dungeons, Silverwastes, fractals, TP speculation, fashion, whatever.

For me, my favorite part of the game is probably the aesthetic aspect. I've spent probably the majority of the time working to get specific weapon skins and piecing together outfits for my characters. If you want to be dazzled by my supreme aesthetic skills, add me ingame: Strider Von Bierken.
Other than that, I spend most my time in wvw or the Silverwastes.

How is the game population wise now and what kind of content is there to do?

I remember I quit like 8 months or so ago when I got bored of WvW.

Population has been going pretty steady, and with the hype for the new expansion I'd say it's been getting more and more new members. Also, you might have missed the Silverwastes, which I personally find kinda fun (if a little grindy). But I get you, I've also taken months long breaks here and there, but I keep coming back.
And there's the beta events for Heart of Thorns too for those who preordered already, but I haven't so I don't know a lot about it.

Alright, double posting because of huge news in Guild Wars 2.
First of all, the Heart of Thorns expansion is coming October 23rd, and will include 10-man raids with loot that allows for crafting legendary armor. Hype.

Secondly, and more importantly for you people who don't know GW2 yet: the core game is now completely FREE TO PLAY. Download and play, no need to buy anything. There are certain restrictions to inventory size, messaging, character slots, exploration, organized playing (wvw/pvp/dungeons), etc.

I heard Blackgate dropped from tier 1 after some big guilds left? On Ring of Fire myself, it's a nice enough server.

I've heard that this game is p cool, and my dad used to have an account when you had to pay for it, but got rid of it. I'll download it this weekend and see how it is
