I miss it.

Postby Daniël » Wed Nov 28, 2018 11:05 am

It might be that I'm in a bit of a melancholic mood, but I'm feeling nostalgic.

I miss the days when the internet had something special and magical about it. Back when making online connections was fun and exciting and you could keep talking with each other on MSN about Pivot or whatever you're into.
I don't feel that anymore. At all.

I used to get so much joy from making animations with Pivot and sharing them on YouTube. One day I got a message from someone if I wanted to join their forum. It was a DarkDemon rip-off site called AnimatorX. And boy did I have some great fucking time there. I did everything you can expect a noob to do, I was the worst (though I didn't know it then) and enjoyed it a fuckton. Luckily everyone else was just as bad so it didn't really matter. Then I moved on to DD and eventually that got to be my new home, although the virgin magic was gone, I still enjoyed it and grew on me, as did the community.

Now going back to this website feels like walking through an almost dead wasteland. I want everyone to still be here and for the place to be just as active as it used to be. Which is of course unrealistic since you can't expect everyone to stay in the same place the whole time, even when it comes to a website.

I honestly don't know why I'm doing all this rambling, but I felt like writing a last post on a website that used to mean a lot to me.

Don't go gentle into that good night, DD.

Yeah man I feel the same way. Online pivot forums are basically a huge part of my childhood(Only now do i realise how weird and kind of sad that is on my part.... i mean I've spent waaayyy too much time behind a screen. no wonder im socially awkward ) its pretty sad to see them not be doing so good anymore. But i guess its part of growing up. I do wish the pivot community was as thriving as it used to be tho.

Yeah same here. It's a problem of mine. I've struggled with it a lot. I always want everything to stay the same. It's because i want to find a comforting homely place to come back to when my current circumstances are feeling shit.
But in reality, nothing stays the same. At the end of the day everything is temporary.

A lot of us here grew up while the internet was just starting to get big. We can't really cherish the moments we have with it anymore because its so easy to do almost anything on it nowadays

It really does feel bad to see it go down as hard as it is
