Please let me know if you have any weapon requests.
Also notify me if there are errors or inaccuracies in the sprite packs.

Welcome to my sprite thread! If you have a weapon sprite request, let me know. I would appreciate it if you would credit me if you do use the sprites.

I have been making sprites for Pivot since probably 2009; I feel that more people should take advantage of the sprite feature Pivot offers and hopefully the sprites I make will encourage the use of more sprites in Pivot. The following link is my first sprite thread. Nearly all the links are dead (though the most sprites that were available in that thread should be available in the Generation 1 pack). Though I now consider those sprites awful now, those are some of the first sprites I have made. What made me want to start making sprites is most likely thanks to Picto for making this thread. This thread had to be abandoned due to the image limit being reached.

Attachments System (new system)
Spoiler:
Gun Name: This is the base sprite.
R & L: R and L means Right and Left respectively. This indicates which direction the specific image file should be facing (and yes, there are differences between the R and L sprites).
Magazines: Magazines will typically have file names like (for example) "AK-74 30Rnd Mag". This means that this particular AK-74 magazine has a capacity of 30 Rounds. The same logic applies to other sprite packs.
Stock: In some cases, weapons will have an adjustable stock and will need be added separately.
Skin: Some weapons may have Mdrn, Wood, etc. placed at the end of the sprite name. This indicates what skin is being used on the sprite. If there are no terms placed in the end, it is the default skin.

Old System (mostly applies to G1 and G2 sprites)
Spoiler:
This may have already been obvious, but I will cover this anyway. In gun sprite packs, there will be several different versions of the weapon included to be used in animation. Here are the different versions.

Gun Name: This is the base sprite. It should be used when the gun is loaded and not at use.
Shot: This sprite should be used when the weapon is firing. The base sprite should be used immediately after firing.
Empty: This sprite is used when the gun is being reloaded.
R & L: Sprite file names with "R" in it are to face right while sprite file names with "L" in it are to face left.
(Older system) F: "F" for flipped. Sprites marked with this should always be used toward the left direction.

Return of The Arsenal?

Spoiler:
08 Apr 2014
The Arsenal is posted on the new DarkDemon.

19 Mar 2014
The Arsenal now has 4 posts to start the thread. Cold War weapon sprite covers have been updated. Thread might continue to change.

13 Mar 2014
The Arsenal is now posted in a new thread due to the previous thread reaching the limit of how many images could be posted. Multiple posts have been made in this thread so that a future thread won't be needed for another while and so that editing the thread will also be easier.

12 Mar 2014
Early 20th Century section.

26 Feb 2014
Weapon variations will be shown in spoilers directly below a sprite pack.

22 Feb 2014
FAL 50.00 is the first battle rifle sprite pack made.

16 Feb 2014
The Arsenal revived.

04 Apr 2013
First fictional sprite pack.

15 Mar 2013
Addition of a section with links to shooting videos.

09 Mar 2013
Addition of an Attachments section.

10 Feb 2013
GENERATION 3 IS RELEASED! 9 sprite packs & 1 Exclusive sprite pack

07 Feb 2013
Thread is being cleaned up. Be prepared for Generation 3 sprites.

25 Jan 2013
I expect to release a massive update either late January or, more likely, early February. I aim to have at least 10 sprite packs released by then.

20 Jan 2013
Attachments are on hold. I have just thought of a way (I can't believe I didn't think of this before) to make all of the weapons correctly proportioned to one another. Which means that ALL the sprite packs I have made to date will not be fully compatible with the future attachments. To make attachments usable for all/most weapons, I see making the weapons correctly proportionate to one another to be very important. Therefore, all the sprite packs I have made to date are now obsolete.

Once I have much time available again, I will start to work on a large amount of sprite packs available for the next update, mostly Soviet weapons I expect. We will see how things go.

27 Dec 2012 - Cleaning up the thread of outdated sprites. I might repost at least some of them later (mostly melee weapons) in another form. I've been having the "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image " error which prevented me from editing this post.

26 Oct/2012 - I'm starting to make changes in the thread to make it easier to find the sprites you want. I am currently in the process of making certain groups of sprites into a sprite pack so that you only need to download one thing to get all that is necessary for the weapon.

I plan to group all/most of my old sprites in a separate section at some point since their quality is significantly lower than my more recent works.

Requests will be kept here to keep track. Requests can be anything related to weapons: guns, melee weapons, grenades, optics, under-barrels, accessories, alternate magazines, additional features in an already-existing sprite pack, camos, etc. However, beware of the high possibility that your request may not be fulfilled for quite some time due to the amount of time it takes to create a weapon sprite. The sprites I choose to make tend to be a weapon type that doesn't have much variety.

The amount of time it takes to make an entirely new sprite pack highly depends on the weapon. But depending on the weapon and the level of detail needed, the completion of a sprite pack can take anywhere from 1 hour to 5 hours.

Making something simple like the MAC-11 is a relatively quick job, but something more complicated like the MG 42 could easily require more than 3 hours to make. Here's an idea of what process most weapon sprites goes through.

-Finding good reference images: Usually <10 minutes
-Weapon scaling: 2 minutes
-Figuring out how the weapon works in reality: 5-30 minutes
-Weapon outline: 10-120 minutes (highly depends on weapon)
-Weapon colours: >30 minutes (highly depends on weapon)
-Converting sprite image files to .stk files: .5-2 hour (highly depends on weapon)

ps.I was about to add in the MKA-1919,but it highly resembles the M16,so I'll just use an M16 sprite. But once again, thanks!

I am working at animation about Polish Underground Army action. Some sprites I need you have already done but I need some more.

Weapons that I need:
[s]- Sten Mk.II/III[/s]
- Stielhandgranate
- P08 Luger Parabellum
- Karabin Kar98k
- MG34
- Walther P38

I woud like also extra poses for Sten, P08 and P38. First look in front of gun ("aiming on you"). Second, only for Sten, about 45 degrees higher than normal pose in both sides.

And the last one thing: If you can please do Polish Vis pistol. It isn't so much needed but it will be nice if you can do it.
These are weapons that are only up for display; only I use these weapons and I have no plans on releasing the source files on the internet.

These .zip files contain weapon sprites from previous generations. To date, there are weapons from previous generations that are not currently available in the present generation. Due to the fact these are older sprites, their quality will be significantly worse than the current G3 sprites.

Image

13 Jan 2013 - Present (564 days as of 31 July 2014)
Spoiler:
This pack includes all generation 3 sprites posted to date (with the exception of modernized AK-47 which needed fixing). People have requested an alternate way to download sprites due to having problems with animator.net.

Generation 3 sprites, besides being slightly more aesthetically pleasing, had one main improvement made over generation 2 sprites: scaling. Each weapon being approximately scaled to one another allowed the use of sprite attachments possible; it was now possible to have items like magazines or optical sights as separate attachable files. Generation 3 sprites have proven to be sufficient so a 4th generation of sprites is not needed as of yet.

Image
21 Oct 2012 - 13 Jan 2013 (84 Days)

Spoiler:
Generation 2 sprites saw significant improvement over its previous generation. One improvement that defines G2 is the significant improvement in weapon accuracy; weapon sprites now resemble much more to their real-life counterpart. Another general improvement is that there are now sprites that will appropriately portray a weapon being shot (bolt being pushed back). The main problem this generation of sprites had are inaccurate proportions. This prevented attachments from being compatible with all the weapons. The STG-45(M) marked the end of generation 2 sprites.

Image
11 Nov 2009 - 25 Sept 2010 (348 Days)

Spoiler:
Generation 1 sprites followed what would now be considered very outdated standards. These sprites were made by using already-available .stk files and essentially adding outlines and colours. Back then, I didn't bother looking at what the weapons looked like in reality; I tried to make them resemble somewhat like the weapons portrayed in the Madness Combat series. As a result, these weapons are highly inaccurate. Most guns in G1 can only reload; no other moving parts. The Desert Eagle is perhaps the last weapon made in this generation and really has more characteristics of a G2 sprite than a G1 sprite.

Man, you're sprites are great. You should make some more modernized pistols. c:

Do you make multiple sprites for one gun? I mean, the pump-action-shotguns needs pumping sprites, revolvers would be good with sprites with the turret out, the hammer back, and both. Pistols with slides back. You get the idea.

Absolutely. In addition to what you mentioned, I make separate image files for the weapon facing the right or left direction, bolt being pushed pack, etc. Some more complicated sprite packs have features like an included folding grip or folding iron sights. Download some of the sprite packs and you'll see though 8 or so 3rd generation weapons use an outdated system.

I'm not really one for sprites, was just interested, is all. Looks like me and you could be weapon rivals, what with my Mix'n'Match and all.

I'm not too certain about that because, although we're both focusing on weapons, we're working with different mediums.

I'd personally like to see a Glock and an ASP.

Here is the Glock 18 unless perhaps you'd like to see another variant made (though I'm not sure how much visual difference there is).
Image

As for the ASP, I could work on that; looks to be relatively simple to make. But just to let you know it will not have a transparent magazine; I avoid the use of transparent parts because it's simpler for me. I hope that won't be too much of a problem.

Glocks are like, totally square. What this pack needs is a longslide hardballer. Maybe even terminate it up a bit with the laser pointer to match?

If the slider on the Glock or any other pistol is to be extended, I would have to make an alternate sprite pack. And speaking of attachments, I have been focusing on that feature recently. I'm not sure when I'll finish because I'm reworking with all weapons I've made so far.

I personally like using stks instead of sprites due to me having a slow computer, but it's great to see how much effort you've put into this (thumbsup

Indefinite as of now; I'll be updating those sprites along with working on the attachments features for all weapons.
