How To Make Fire Effects?

Postby Andrew » Sat Jan 21, 2017 10:03 pm

How do people make such good fire effects? I know they have separate .stks that are really small and they combine them, but I don't understand how they do them so well.

The one thing Horsie told me that's stuck with me is to think of animating effects in Pivot like you would in Flash. In other words, you draw with sticks, if it makes sense. But the shapes and forms you can learn from tutorials and observing animated effects made by proffessionals. Generally in animation, you break down a movement your eye sees into seperate frames, so try to train your eyes to do so.

Personally I just import the gif into flash and do the effects there haha.

Honestly, I suck at any percise-detail cnc. I can do big picture ones cnc pretty good tho.

It's pretty much like Sifter said, u can do the same in stick editor but in my opinion its faster with premade sticks, since u dont have to make new figures every new frame.

I made little tut for you how im doing my fire (i opened pivot the first time after like a half year break, i was about to stop few times when i was doing it ._.)

I created the shape with some electriciti sticks i had

Then i tried to make the outlines more fire-looking

More sticks

Some colors

More colors

In this frame i kinda overcolored the fire and it was messy

So had to put some bigger sticks on the outlines

And there it is, i would add more details and stuff but i takes eternity to make one frame, so dont even try to waste ur time pivot and try flash, trust me.
